It has been super hot the last few days so we did the rim walk early to avoid the blistering midday heat. At the centre lies the Garden of Eden which is this permanent water hole providing cool shade all day. Of course I couldn't help myself and stripped down to bra and undies for a swim while the bemused tourists looked on...afterwards I basked in the sun watching blue, orange and green dragonflies flitter about and honeyeaters swoop down for a drink. Bewitching.
On this walk I found myself on the edges of some formidable cliffs and really had to battle my vertigo. It was worth it to stand with my boys and man and practice our cooooeees - the canyon has the best echo I have ever heard!
After walking and wondering and sweating buckets we arrived back at the resort to collapse into another fine waterhole....the best pool of the trip we all agreed! We even had a night nudey swim (but don't tell anyone!).
So after a relaxing drive we find ourselves in Alice Springs camped at the foothills of the Macdonnell Ranges. We have a great spot - private, Bmx track out front and plenty of room for hoola hooping!
