We love Tim Minchin. He of the acidic wit, athiestic leanings and non political politics. He of the musical theatre genre bending types; a nerdy rock god spouting syllables like machine gun fire and twinkling piano keys like a jazz angel.
We have let the boys listen to most (not all) of his sings and they've prompted great conversations about religion, racism and the power of humour.
I got tickets to see Tim at the Opera House steps and have one of those tickets to Flex for his birthday.
Last night was the night.
We started with an indulgent view soaked dinner.
The into the mega line for entry...but we managed to score pretty much front seat position!
Tim hit the stage in a flurry of hair, eyeliner and self effacing goofball attitude. You can tell he considers himself a very lucky man to be able to make music and jokes for a living. He was honest about being somewhat exhausted and overwhelmed but that didn't prevent him from delivering a great two hours if entertainment.
The encore consisted of Tim bringing his uncle, brither, sisters and cousins on stage and performing a couple of family favorites. They'll be talking about this gig at Christmas forevermore!
Comedy is something I really enjoy sharing with my eldest son. He's smart enough to get it and is quite a funny fella himself. A family that laughs together...
